Thanks for the great work, Jeanne-Claude.

Artist and collaborator, Jeanne-Claude, of Christo and Jeanne-Claude, died today. While I never met the artists, I do remember their most recent undertaking, the Gates project in Central Park a few years ago.

I was able to attend the opening day with my aunt, and we watched my good friend, Mandy, unroll the final of the largest of the Gates. (The tube that the fabric was wrapped around did indeed hit someone on the head.)

I will always be changed as an artist by the works of Christo and Jeanne-Claude, so may she rest in peace. Thanks for inspiring me.

A brand new artists' consignment shop started by two friends, Julianna Lose (Uarts '07) and Abby Flanigan (Moore '08). Seasonal for now, with the potential to stay after the holiday blitz is over. Definitely stop by and support them and the artists who consign there, and show the world that handmade gifts are the best gifts!

Because this little community of artists and crafters in Philadelphia is just so small, tight knit, incestuous(!) even, there are many artists that sell their goods at The Art Shop AND All By Hand, but to see the differences, visit both...just a hop skip and jump away from each other.
